Framboð Karpov hefur sent út bréf til skáksambanda og FIDE-fulltrúa.  Þar er áskökunum Kirsan Ilyumzhinov um að fundurinn hafi verið ólöglegur vísað á bug og þess í stað haldið fram að menn Kirsan hafi viljað fresta fundinum til að forðast ósigur en 17 af 32 fulltrúum kusu Karpov.  Á morgun verður Karpov með fjáröflunarmáltíð í New York en meðal gesta þar eru Kasparov og Carlsen.  Yifrlýsinguna má finna hér í heild sinni.

To All FIDE Delegates and Federation Officials,

I would like to update you on recent news and activities of the Karpov2010 campaign. Please feel free to distribute this email and also to send me items for inclusion on our website about your federation's activities and ideas for change. The federations are the strength of FIDE and we should share your successes with the world.

1) The Russian Chess Federation Nominates Karpov for FIDE President

May 14 will prove to be an important day in FIDE and chess history. At the scheduled meeting of the Supervisory Council of the Russian Chess Federation at the legendary Central Chess Club of Moscow, Anatoly Karpov was nominated for the FIDE presidency. Despite last-moment attempts by Ilyumzhinov's supporters to move or cancel the meeting to avoid defeat, 17 of the 32 Council members voted for Karpov, the necessary majority by one!

Ilyumzhinov and his supporter on the Council, Dvorkovich, have already attempted to declare the vote invalid with bizarre claims and accusations. We are happy to say there is a complete video record of the proceedings that illustrates everything was done in a calm and correct manner. There can be no doubt that the elected members of the Supervisory Council have spoken clearly, and done so in the open and democratic fashion the Karpov administration will emulate. 2) Ilyumzhinov's General Secretary, Ignatius Leong, to Step Down

Singapore's Ignatius Leong, the current General Secretary of FIDE, announced on May 14th that this term will be his last with Ilyumzhinov's Presidential Board.

3) May 17 Campaign Kickoff in New York to be Streamed Live Online

4) Thanks to Our Early Supporters

Anatoly wants to personally thank the 21 federations whose early support gave him the momentum to take the Russian nomination. They are: Germany, Syria, USA, Spain, England, Iceland, Switzerland, Ukraine, Nicaragua, Egypt, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Turkmenistan, Serbia, Luxembourg, France, Republic of Congo, El Salvador, Guernsey, Monaco, Tajikistan, Faroe Islands. They showed leadership and courage. 21 is a lucky number in cards and also lucky for us in chess! In the last few hours, three other federations have announced their support and we will publish their letters as soon as we have them.

Now it is your turn to step forward! We will work harder than ever to contact every federation to share our vision for change and to understand your views and needs. As important as this Moscow victory was, every vote counts equally and we take nothing for granted. Our goal is to earn your vote and to use this campaign to unite and re-energize the chess world. We are filling up our calendar with visits to rally support, so don't waste time!
